The Soothing Power Of Silence

There is no need for words when
you look into someone’s eyes and can
communicate through mere perception.
If there is a real connection, silence
never gets awkward. Eyes and hands
cannot speak and yet they are more
powerful than words.

For an islander like me, silence is to
be found in front of the sea, as well. Its
dance with the wind, so imperceptible
on a day when the water looks flat
as a mirror, is imprinted in us and we
perceive it as the most perfect of all
silences.

During the summer months, capturing
the sea as a mirror and hearing nothing
becomes difficult. However, near a
swamp at dawn there is absolute
silence. Just mist, sun and clouds:
A perfect connection.

Our experience in this world is so
ephemeral; we can only hope to tread
this world as silently as possible. That is
the aim of this fashion editorial, which
has a documentary touch: To advocate
for a type of industry that gradually
becomes more and more in tune
with nature by supporting local and
sustainable brands.

We should strive for a life that
resembles a whisper so that the earth
can finally breathe out peacefully.
